Closely followed by: What did your parents do that was helpful? Or… not?

In what feels like an overnight evolution, I’ve developed a community that is filled with limb-different families, and I’m so grateful for it. My inbox is filled with parents sharing stories and photos of their child with a limb-difference, thanking me, encouraging me, but more than anything else, seeking advice on how to navigate the nuances of raising their child.

So I sat down with my mom to pick her brain. What was it like raising me?

What worked, what didn’t? It had me reflecting, too. And I have thoughts…that maybe not everyone will agree with. And that’s okay.

Let’s start with language. No names.
